Elena Jung Hee Winters
February 12, 1992 - June 22, 2022The LITTLE PERSON with the BIG VOICE
Standing just over three feet tall, she was a big bright spot in the world, a giant contrast to the medical problems that would beat down the average person.
In the Joliet Herald:
Elena J Winters of Lockport Illinois passed away in June at the age of 30.
Born in South Korea, Elena joined her forever family in 1994. A Lockport High School graduate, she was active in her church and community. She advocated for Little People and for service dog awareness. Elena was an artist, chef, jewelry designer and best friend to everyone she met.
She is survived by her parents Phil & Kim, and her sisters Liz and Sam. Elena was predeceased by her service dogs Jewel and Sonny.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early October at the Lockport First United Methodist Church. Masks will be required.
Instead of flowers, the family encourages donations in Elena’s honor to Potentials Foundation, MidAmercia Service Dogs Foundation, or Lightways Hospice.
Additional information will be posted at littlepersonbigvoice.com.
